Tell us about Kat Fight

Kat Fight is a true romantic comedy, and is loosely based on how I met my husband. Here’s a quick synopsis:

After her apathetic boyfriend, Marc, sends her call to voicemail one too many times, she finally gathers up enough courage to confront him. Though she’s no fan of ultimatums, Kat is at the end of her considerable wits, and lobs a massive one his way, completely confident that he’ll make the right decision when faced with losing her. He doesn’t.

With radio silence from Marc, Kat’s lifelong dream of starting a family is decidedly on the skids. That’s when her friend Julie steps in, forcing Kat on a blind date to help her move beyond the break-up. But instead of charming her own date, she finds herself in hot pursuit of Julie’s love interest, Ryan Sullivan, instead.

Wait a minute, did you say it is based on how you met your husband? What’s fact and what part is fiction?
I love this question, because I actually put Ten Fun Facts at the back of the book that tell the reader exactly what is fact and what is fiction. I’ve had so many people tell me how much they loved having that bit of insight after reading the story.

What genre is Kat Fight?
Contemporary Romance.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Anyone who craves a great love story and like a good laugh.

How do you manage to stay so consistently funny anyway? You must have bad days like the rest of us.
I for sure have crappy days, but I’m one of those people who always tries to find the humor in everything. I’m constantly laughing at inappropriate times. I’ve always been a huge fan of comedians and comedy writers like Mel Brooks, Nora Ephron, Jon Stewart and David Letterman. My sense of wit is ever present in all my work.

Complete this sentence for us: If you like __________, you’ll love Kat Fight
If you like:

Bridget Jones’s Diary you’ll love Kat Fight.

I realize that’s setting the bar pretty high, but the two books have a lot in common. Lots of humor, a gripping love triangle, and a somewhat frenzied protagonist.

So Kat Porter is a bit of a Bridget Jones character? Tell us more about her.
Kat is looking for love, but isn’t sappy about it. She’s in her late twenties, and truly wants to get married and start a family. Her parent’s marriage was anything but admirable, and she’s longed for her opportunity to prove that relationships can thrive and prevail. She has a wickedly funny gay co-worker, and a slew of close friends who do their best to guide her during this quest.

Tell us a bit more about yourself.
I have one son who is my best buddy in the whole world. Two cats, who sleep on my legs every night and give me cramps. I’m a huge fan of TV. My favorite shows (at present) are Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Family Guy, Girls (on HBO), and The Daily Show. Also, I love cheese fries and red wine…but not together.

Have you got a blog where readers can keep up with your work?
I do! It’s www.dinasilver.blogspot.com.

Where can we buy Kat Fight?
Kat Fight is currently available in paperback and eBook on Amazon ( US , UK ).

What’s next?
Next up is my third novel, which is complete (yay!), but it only has a working title right now, so I can’t give too much away…but I think this might be my best one yet. Stay tuned!
